Mason True

Cabot High School

Grade: 12

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader” - John Quincy Adams

Mason True’s path to the state stage is a testament to the power of mentorship. Originally a student who preferred to lead quietly from behind the scenes, Mason’s perspective was transformed by the encouragement of his peers and former state officers Joann Kim and Kayla Caldwell. He realized that leadership is not reserved for the loudest voice in the room, but for those with the integrity to do good even when no one is watching.

A pivotal moment for Mason was the 2025 International Leadership Conference, where competing as a finalist in Phlebotomy gave him the perspective and confidence needed to step into the spotlight as State Secretary.

Mason’s career goals are fueled by deep empathy. He plans to pursue a career in oncology, where he hopes to be a source of calm and compassion for families navigating life’s most difficult diagnoses. Mason reflects on what a meaningful impact health professionals have on their patients. A cancer diagnosis is one of the most frightening and life altering pieces of news a person can receive, Mason hopes to be a source of calm for patients and their families in detrimental moments. He plans to apply his administrative and organizational knowledge into creating effective treatment plans.

Outside of his medical and leadership pursuits, Mason is a talented musician and a two-time All-State trumpet player with the Cabot Band. He finds fulfillment serving on his church’s tech team and enjoys staying active through pickleball and hiking. Whether he is experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen or floating down the buffalo river, Mason brings a grounded, straightforward demeanor to everything he does, proving that the most effective leaders are often those who lead with integrity and honesty.
